Mathematical worksheets can also be prepared with ZNuscript. These fonts use the standard character set, which means all letters, accented characters for Foreign languages including some Eastern European languages as well as French, Italian, Spanish, German, Swedish, Dane, etc.
The line underneath the practice line can be supressed. ZNuscript Heavy is an exclusive way of stressing important text, like for instance teacher's indications, or questions. Although it shows out, it does comply to the drawing rules of the method. As if it had been created with a heavier pencil or marker. Because we use the standard character set and no bizarre software, you get full language support from any system.
Computers have never been designed to reproduce handwriting, but rather to generate print. In order to have all letters link without any additional software contraption, we have slightly modified each character design to make sure they link when entered as a text flow. The "Classic" series show the unmodified letters, as they are drawn individually, when they are not linked. For instance, none of them really links naturally to the next, and letters ending on top, like b, v, w, do not link at all.
These fonts are destined to create examples of each letter to draw from, rather than to type entire paragraphs. They also illustrate how pupils will have to interpret individual characters to link them efficiently, through modified pencil trajectories like ZWriting does.
ZWriting Outline is an another approach to where to start letters, often displayed in books, and difficult to recreate by hand. This exclusive style is part of our pack to let you create stunning worksheets. It also makes the lighter weights more legible when setting long texts at small sizes, while the Black weight, which is more appropriate for titling, is given more impact with the tighter spacing. Together with the lower case g they are the most difficult characters to design.
While drawing these early forms he was also inspired by blackletter types, particularly their contrast, emphasis on the vertical, and strong graphic look and feel. He combined these features with more humanist shapes to make a well-working text font. The form and the rhythm of Vista are a blend of blackletter and humanist writing.
There are many subtle details in Vista that become interesting at large sizes. For example, the elegant, slightly bulging edge on some of the stroke endings.
So with Vista he experimented with adding the curves in slightly unusual places such as some of the stroke endings. Other details include ink traps in some characters x, v, w… and squarely notched inside cusps in other characters b, n, r…. Both of these treatments, while seemingly different approaches, add a square appearance to otherwise pointed areas, and unifies the characters.
When he finished the design of the regular weights, he found them lacking in what had first inspired him: the hand-lettered shop signs in Sumatra. So alternate forms were added to provide subtle variety for titling usage. Because we're serious design tragics, we even created each letter in two different weights so it's even more individual. A hand-lettered script font, Mightype is great for packaging designs, branding and much more.
