I get Access Denied for many things. So it must be corrupted, but trying to login as the Administrator account shows me it is disabled and I can't enable it from user Accounts because the account isn't seen as an Administrator.
I can't just lose the dozens of installs I have because Microsoft can't provide a way for themselves to unlock it I've contacted them. About Microsoft allowing the Administrator account to be disabled it is actually disabled by default : MS is as short-sighted in this regard as countless users are. The vast majority of them have at least one spare house key if not two, yet few of them take the trouble of creating and testing a spare admin account under Windows. When that account goes bad they are in diabolical trouble.

You can take ownership of it and access anything on it which isn't encrypted that way. If you are looking to just be able to use the machine and don't care about data, reinstall Windows clean. I'm assuming this isn't a domain joined machine? If that works, then you can try net user administrator password to change the password, where password is the new password you want to set. It might be what he was talking about, but I was just thinking differently. Stacey, you got it!! Only thing I really had to do different was to take ownership and give myself permissions to the sethc. I enabled the administrator account, reset its password and I'm in!!! I just now have to take the drive back out, put it in my own PC to revert the changes I made.
