Painting is a form of creative expression, as is dance. Combine them, and you have a dance activity that is fun and interesting. You need some kid-friendly paints, a few bowls to make the colors, and a non-skid, washable plain mat for the floor.

This activity requires the kids to dance while twirling ribbons tied to a stick. The activity develops their creativity, imagination, flexibility, and eye-hand coordination. You can prepare the ribbon-sticks beforehand to save time for the activity.

The curiousity in kids lets them take their creativity to the next level. This activity is all about making creative formations with a parachute. You will need a rainbow parachute and some space to dance. The kids have to observe and learn the movements of different animals and convert them into dance steps.

The activity improves their observation skills as well as creativity. For this activity, you need some animal masks and a phone or a TV. Just play hip hop music and let the kids groove to it. Freestyle hip hop dancing is an excellent physical activity if you have some peppy numbers to play.

Kids are always high on energy and eager to try new things. Dancing is a fun way to spend that energy, get a little creative, and improve the gross motor skills. Try these dance games and activities at a birthday party, a class party or a picnic. Do you have any tips for dance activities or dance games for kids?

Do share them in the comments section below. The following two tabs change content below. Make a party playlist that's fun to dance to. As with musical chairs, choose one person to be in charge of the music. Everyone dances while the music's playing.

When the music shuts off, anyone who doesn't freeze in place is eliminated. The winner is the person who lasts on the dance floor the longest.

This is another flirty circle game. Stand up in a circle and have everyone turn to face the right. Then squeeze in, making the circle smaller and smaller, till everyone's close enough to slowly start sitting on each other's laps. The goal is to have everyone sitting down without the chain collapsing and everyone falling. Prepare game cards with words that are common in songs, like, "rain," "stay," and "hand" or just buy the official board game version.

Break the party into two teams. Flip over a card and show everyone what it says. Each team takes turns singing songs that have that word somewhere in the lyrics. When one of the teams can't come up with a song after 30 seconds, they lose the round, and the other team is awarded a point. The first team to earn 10 points wins.

This game is good for playing with people you don't know that well. Everyone takes a turn saying three statements about themselves: two that are true, and one that's a lie.

The rest of the group has to guess which one's the lie. Everyone stands in a circle and holds out both of your hands. Each person links both his hands to other hands of anyone except for either person standing next to him. Once everybody's thoroughly tangled, try to untwist yourselves into a circle without letting go of anyone's hand. Twister's a classic party game that always ends in giggles.

The bigger your homemade board, the more people can play at once. Build a music playlist with songs that your friends have probably heard before.

Start playing a song either at the beginning or the middle , and call on whoever raises a hand fastest to guess the name of the song. If she guesses right, she gets a point; if she guesses wrong, she loses a point.
